Being in the nursing home, you don't know what kind of diseases you can pick up. This way, the washer is sanitized for the next person to use it. I not only use it to sanitize my own laundry, but I also sanitize the washer when I'm done with it as well. (Some of the other residents here use that same washer and dryer as well.) The washer and dryer that I use is located up on the third floor pavilion wing. After getting an OK from Physical Therapy, I am now able to do my own laundry here. I am in a nursing home where some of the staff and the residents here, including, myself, had tested positive for COVID 19. Verified purchase: Yes Condition: New Sold by: mini_mart_us It takes 86 minutes, in total but is well worth it to me. I have to run the load first with detergent (to clean) & then a second time through with this stuff measured-out & poured into the detergent compartment (to sanitize). But, that's due to poorly-engineered "high-tech" washers.not the fault of this product. It is difficult to use this in a front-load, HE washing machine, like I recently acquired, since there is no way to pause the load for the required 16 minutes this stuff takes to sanitize. I really appreciate having a product I can use to disinfect things that can't be bleached, like colored towels & bed sheets.
